Catching up

Wow! Summer is so busy and packed with fun that it is hard to get it all on the blog. And for some reason, I feel like I have to document everything on my blog now... especially since I rarely find time to scrapbook or write in a true journal, and it's fun to feel like you've captured memories somewhere. I've already decided I am going to have Griff digitally print my blog into a spiral book every year so I can have an organized hard copy of all the great things that go on in our lives. Most recently, we just got back from an awesome trip to Canada to visit my mom's family, but before I post pictures from Canda I wanted to catch up on a few things that happened at home beforehand.

Tin Foil Dinners

We went up Big Cottonwood Canyon with some of our friends earlier this month to make tin foil dinners. The dinners took awhile to cook, but were delicious when they were finally done. And what's not to love about friends and smores?! The fun thing about this group is that three of us are pregnant... and due in December! Crazy, eh? There is a silly picture below with the truely pregnant Christy, Mindy, and Tawny (although Tawny somehow still looks nonpregnant) and Lindy and Shaylee with stuffed baby bellies. Not that I don't love knowing our sweet baby is growing in me, but having experienced pregnancy firsthand now.... I think stuffing your bra has still got to be more fun than your belly. In fact, I'm convinced. :)

Amy, Coleman, and Cannon's Birthdays

The Sunday before we left for Canada we celebrated some more birthdays. Amy, Coleman, and Cannon all have birthdays in July (so do Brittany and Benjamin... but they were not present so we could hardly celebrate their birthdays without them). It was fun to get together for another yummy summer dinner and a party at Mom and Dad's. Amy is truely the BEST bonus sister. I can't believe how lucky we were to have Matt fall in love with a girl who is just naturally the 5th Sterzer sister. :) And Coleman is just a bundle of personality. I get a kick out of him every time I am near him. Melanie's older boys took turns driving in our car on our way up to Canada, and when it was Coleman's turn he entertained Wesley the whole time. "Entertained" is an understatement! It was so cute to hear Wesley laughing his head off and Coleman being goofy. But it does seem like Coleman should be celebrating his first birthday along with Cannon... not his 6th birthday! And Cannon is just a little sweetheart. I love to watch him walking all over the place... he is still such a little person. I am certainly thankful for July and all the wonderful people that it heralded into our family!

Numero Uno!!!

We took first place in our coed softball league!
Here are the Swingers with our trophy. Thanks Ken Day for sponsoring us.

I am convinced softball is the best life sport. I played fast pitch in highschool, and it is so fun to be able to keep playing with so many friends and family.

Here are some of our best supporters! Eric's family came to most of the games, too. It is especially fun to have all those babies at the games. Connor, TJ, and Coleman watched us finish our last game undefeated. They were VERY excited about the size of that trophy.

Bummer that Griff dislocated his shoulder a couple games ago, but at least we'll have him back next year.

Happy Birthday Dad!

Happy Birthday to Griff's awesome dad, Randy! We went to breakfast with Griff's whole family to Little America where they have a killer breakfast buffet. Seriously... waffles to die for and omelots to order. It was a fun morning. Randy is such a great dad to us. He is hard working, supportive, and loving. We are so grateful for him! (I had a couple of other cute pictures, but for some reason I couldn't get them to upload to blogger. Bummer.)

A Very Important Photo Shoot!

My OB didn't schedule my ultrasound until my 23rd week. What first time mom and dad could wait that long!?! So I snuck over to ultrasound at work on Friday and convinced the ultrasound tech to take a peek for me. Our baby is a BOY! We're so excited for our little guy... now we just can't wait to see what he looks like. :)

Timpanooke with the Sterzers

My parents are so much fun. We grew up camping in the summers and loved every minute of it. I have great memories of campfires in the desert, fishing the wee hours of the morning at Lily Lake, reading or playing games by lantern light in our big canvas tent... the list could go on and on. Happily, my parents have kept the tradition alive even as we got older, except now they reserve spots in equestrian campgrounds so we can ride the horses, too. This year they reserved a spot at Timpanooke up American Fork Canyon, so it was super convenient for everyone.

The first night we had tin foil dinners... they were yummy! And then we made smores... can't get enough of them.

TJ, Connor, and Coleman on a hike. TJ has his trusty possibles bag in one hand, and they all have their whistles around their necks. My dad is the number one grandpa. He took the boys up there on his own the first night. While he was working on stuff in camp, they wanted to explore so he had them put their whistles on in case they needed him. Of course, the whistles were irresistable to blow once they were hanging there so I think he would have been more worried if he didn't hear them. :)

Here is Coleman enjoying his first (of many) smores on the campout. What a cutie!

Griff, Eric and Dad.

Mindy and Coleman enjoying the campfire.

Dad with his horse Coltrain
Mom had surgery on Wednesday, so she had to lay a little low during the campout. We were glad she felt well enough to come at all.
Brittany and I both showed up on Saturday wearing the same Icon shirts. Must be sisters. :) I'm riding Baldo and Britt is on Chief.

Amy, Dad, Griff, and Mom playing Rook.

Is this not the look of a content dog? Denali, Brittany and Eric's American Bulldog, is the sweetest dog. She loves kids and doesn't have a mean bone in her body. She loved running along with the horses, but she was pretty pooped by the end of the trip.

4th of July Week

My good friend, Britta, was in town this week. We missed her! It was a great excuse to get together for lunch with the girls. Jen and Shelby are looking so cute and pregnant! Shelby is having a little boy and Jen is having a girl. Unfortunately, I am still in the phase where people aren't sure whether I am chunky or pregnant. :)

Later in the week, we headed up American Fork canyon for a campfire with Brittany, Eric, Matt, and Amy. We roasted cheddar dogs, enjoyed homemade hummus courtesy of Brittany, and ate gourmet smores provided by Matt and Amy. Gabe and Wesley were so cute! Wesley does this trick where you put his binky in upside down, and then he spins it over in his mouth. He is so proud of himself when he does it! When he finished he'd take out his binky and hand it to Matt to do it again. It reminds me of my other nephew Coleman, who loved to do that, too. So cute! Griff dislocated his shoulder the night before and has to wear that sling for a little while, which he hates of course. Poor guy!

Matt considered entering the recipe for these delicious smores on sisterscafe... you know, a guest appearance by the brother of the "sisters". haha

We spent the 4th of July out in Tooele with Griff's family. We had a yummy barbecue and enjoyed each others' company. Then we watched fireworks from a distance (but in relative comfort) from the driveway. Teneil left on a date before I could get any pictures of her (sorry, Nelly). My eyes are closed, but it was the only pic we had of us. :)
Cassidee and her friend, McKenzie. They are cheerleaders at Tooele High School, so they were in the parade in the morning then they performed at the park after. We got up too late to make it for the early festivities, but the video of it was cute! :)
Randy and Cindy made dutch oven cobbler and we made homemade icecream to top it off!
The all meat shiskababs with featured chef, Randy. Cindy made a few yummy salads to go with it, too.
