Happy Birthday G!

Happy Birthday Griff!  ...well, actually I am a bit late posting.  G's birthday was actually March 2nd.  But as usual, we stretched the celebration into more like a week!  And why not?  We love reasons to celebrate, and we had a very good person to celebrate.  Griff is the best husband and daddy!  It warms my heart to watch him play with our boys.  He is hardworking, kind, and fun.  He's so supportive, too.  I love planning adventures with him, and I love his zest for life.

Griff started off his birthday with a special breakfast of homemade Kneader's French Toast.  Griff and I have been on a meal plan, so Jack had been suffering along with us.  He hadn't had french toast, pancakes, waffles or anything like it for a few weeks.  I think Jack may have been even more thrilled with this breakfast than the birthday boy... and that's saying something since Kneader's French Toast is Griff's favorite. :)

Griff worked all day, then we went to dinner at Market Street Grill and came home for a movie night.  We were too full to eat the yummy Chocolate Swirl Cheesecake with Triple Berry Sauce that I had made him, so we ate it the next day instead.... and the next day and the next day.  Cheesecake is Griff's favorite dessert. :)

Later in the week Griff's parents took us to dinner at Red Lobster.  Yummy.  Jack ate so many of those extremely delicious biscuits that he wouldn't eat the mac 'n cheese we ordered him. If you know Jack you would appreciate how weird this is.  He gets mac 'n cheese as an occasional treat and usually acts like it is the best thing he has ever eaten.  He eats mounds of it when he can get his hands on it.  But I guess the Red Lobster biscuits have now replaced mac 'n cheese at the top of the totem pole.  But back to the birthday boy...

And one more party with my family...

WE LOVE YOU, GRIFF!

Funny Little Sleeper

Kids can sleep in the most amazing positions.  I often laugh when I check on Jack at night.  Sometimes he's asleep with his legs propped up on the side of his crib... looking like he is just lounging around.  Other times he's folded up so that he is almost laying on top of his head.  Sometimes he is just laying on such an assortment of blankets, toys, and books that I can't imagine he is comfortable.  I always wish later that I had taken a moment to get the camera... and for once I did.  Funny little sleeper!

Smiley

Melanie gave us this little toy that sits over babies.  Jack loved it.  And Colt likes it now, too.  In fact, Colt just smiles and smiles at the smiley face on one of the toys that hangs over his head.  It is absolutely so funny and totally adorable!

Our Feline Visitor

We had an exciting visitor a few weeks ago.  This fluffy cat meowed around our house for a couple of days loving the attention Jack would give her through the windows (I wasn't about to let the cat actually come into the house - and I didn't want to go out and play with it.  I am soooo allergic to cats).  Jack first discovered his little feline friend on our porch.  He joyfully announced at the top of his lungs that there was a kitty-cat at our house!  After playing with her through the window for awhile, Jack finally got sidetracked by something in the living room and left the window.  The cat meowed for a bit, then just walked around back and meowed some more until Jack played with her again through the sliding glass door.  Persistent little cat.  Poor Jack begged to let her in... but mean old mom held out.  Still this was the highlight of Jack's week!  (Please don't pay any attention to my filthy glass.  These pictures galvanized me into action and the doors were shined the next day!)

Colt's Baby Blessing

Colt Griffin was blessed on February 6, 2011.  What a beautiful baby boy!  Unlike his big brother, Colt was an angel while he was blessed.  He didn't even make a peep. :)  We weren't going to bless him for a couple more weeks, but when I tried on his blessing outfit a couple weeks before... I was astounded to realize that he had almost outgrown it!  So we hurriedly scheduled the earliest date we could to have this little sweetheart blessed.  We blessed Colt in a cute white romper that his Grammy Sterzer gave him,and a beautifully crocheted Afghan his Grandma Cassity made for him.  So he was dressed and wrapped up in love all day!  After the blessing we had everyone over to my parents for a light lunch (thank you Mom and Dad for letting us use your house!).  It was kind of sad for me to have most of my family moved away this time.  Our house was packed after Jack's blessing!  But we still loved the small crowd who were able to spend Colt's special blessing day with us.  We love our family so much.

Colt is an absolute joy!  I am really loving being a mommy of two.  Colt is a sweet, happy baby.  He is quick to smile and easy to soothe.  He loves being held and nursing.  Usually I let him nurse as long as he wants, but sometimes when he has been nursing a long time, and I know he is done I'll detach him.  He gives me this little frown and a "mwah!" in protest.  It is priceless.  Now that he is here, I can't imagine ever being without him.  Oh you sweet sweet baby!

My cousins Connor and Josh are attending BYU and were able to come to the blessing!

Our new bigger family! (Griff and I started a meal plan Amy put us on the day after the blessing, and I am happy to announce Griff is down 8lbs (?) and I am down 6lbs!  Wahoo!)
