Mid July Happenings

This post is a smattering of pictures and events in mid July....

Jack always wants "kissies" and a "big hug" before we leave for work.  I snapped this one just as Griff was walking out the door on July 11.  Priceless~

Jack loves Baby Colt.  Around this time, I started asking Jack to grab Colt a toy when I heard him fussing and I was in the middle of something.  Jack took it to heart.  Every time he heard Colt fuss, he would run to get him a toy... or two... or three... or as many as he could fit around him.  He's buried in toys!  I laughed and laughed when I walked in to see Colt drowning in toys.

These next pictures were taken when we went out to Tooele for Randy's birthday.  Aren't these cousins cute?
Anika, Kara, Jack

All the kids wanted to ride the 4-wheeler with Grandpa.  He was great about taking them all on atv adentures.

I know this picture is random, but I loved how Devin and Griff are laughing... I can't remember what they are laughing at, but it captured the happiness of the day.

Happy Birthday Grandpa!

Colt with Grandma and Grandpa

Oh I just want to kiss this little boy.  I love that fuzzy head and those chubby cheeks.

Amy's birthday came next!  We had a birthday dinner at my house for her.  We seriously love this girl.  She is sweet, so fun, laid back, and up for an adventure.  I love that she still lives in Utah since all the rest of our sisters are gone!

Who's messy haired kid is that licking the candles?

Lake Powell 2011

If you know us at all, you know our family looks forward to our week at Lake Powell with the Christensens ALL YEAR!  The week of the July 4th 2011 found us enjoying sand, sun, boats and family at Wahweap, Lake Powell.  I am convinced this is one of the best family vacations.  It was incredibly relaxing without kids, and with kids? ... incredibly fun and only mildly relaxing. :)  I included some of my favorite pictures, which ended up being a million.  I figure if a picture is worth a thousand words, then I've captured our fun together perfectly!

Once again Grandpa let Jack have lots of turns driving the boat... it was actually pretty comical watching Jack vigorously moving his little hands up and down on each side of the steering wheel.  The boat was a little wiggly with Jack as the captain.

Grandpa, Jack and Uncle Ron on the tube.  Jack had a blast!  Right at the end of this tube ride, the tube hit a bump and flew through the air.  Jack was saved from going overboard by Uncle Ron, but he refused to get on the tube again the rest of the trip. :)

Everybody on this rock swam to it!  It was in the middle of the water.  Jack seriously became a good little swimmer this week.

My kiddos seriously love Uncle Colton and Aunt Nelly.

Griff skiing and wakeboarding.  Ah yeah baby!

Randy

Cindy

Cindy and Janet set up the slip and slide and helped Jack play on it one afternoon.  He loved it!

He was obsessed with sticking out that little tongue. I think I will smile every time I see this picture for the rest of my life!

Our Chet.  He was watching people jump off the houseboat and go down the slide.  You can't tell, but he was totally laughing at all the craziness!

Jack saw this picture and said, "Funny Uncle Colton."

Hang Loose!

Randy was making this funny Donald Duck-ish sounding noise that had Colt laughing hysterically.  Cutest thing!

Jack, Kara, and Taylor were little sand architects.  For some reason I think building sand castles is so fun, too.  I had fun playing with these cutie pies in the sand one day, too.

Look at buff grandpa...

My mom and dad gave me this cute cowboy hat.  It was perfect for the lake!

I love how all the kids were crowding around Colt playing with him in the water.  (The water is pretty shallow right here, and the kids had been vigorously swimming - hence the brown water in this picture.)

Griff was making funny faces at Colt while eating breakfast and our little cutie thought his daddy was downright hilarious.  He is the happiest baby.

Taking a break from the sun and sand for a little Green Eggs and Ham.

This was my first time on the wakeboard in two years!  It was SO fun.  I felt like I laughed and whooped the whole time I was riding... that is until the next day when I got SO sore.  Of course, that didn't stop me from wakeboarding as much as possible the rest of the trip, and it only stopped me from smiling and whooping the first minute of each ride while the sore muscles got flexed and stretched out. :)

Kara, Griff, and Devin

Kara is a water baby.  I loved this picture of Devin and her laughing with each other on the tubes.

... and Kara's hair looks awesome in this picture on the tube with Travis.

Anika and Jack both played so hard that they crashed here and there.  Jack was usually on the couch, but this picture of Anika on the boat is priceless.

And what would Powell be like without a campfire?!  And smores!  Obviously Jack was a fan...

There was just one problem.. gnats!  Uncle Ron taught us a little secret: gnats swarm to the highest point.  So we all took turns holding our arm/hat above our heads and collecting the gnats. :)

 Cindy and Janet

McKenzie, Connor and Cassidee.  The singletons left early, but we had fun with them while they were here!

And finally a picture of Colt with his cousin Chet.

Once again thank you Cindy and Randy for a week of family and fun aboard the Nautical Lady!
